Hey y’all! I hope everyone is doing well. I’d like to thank you once again for joining in the fibromyalgia awareness series last week, so Thank You! Unfortunately, (and somewhat ironically), working so hard on that series threw me into a flare that I’m just now starting to recover from. Well, it wasn’t just the work on that series that did it – my sons also left the bathroom floor soaked Sunday and I just happened to walk in right on time to slip and fall, bruising my knee and hip and bending my thumb backwards. Yes, ouch!
Anyway, there shall be no whining! I’m happy to say I at least had enough energy to pull together a flash piece for this week to contribute to #fridayflash. I hope you’ll stop on over at The Other Side of Deanna this Friday, May 21st, to read the story, The Lonely, inspired by my all-time favorite song Thunder Road, written and performed by the multi-talented Bruce Springsteen. I’ve actually had this story around for quite some time, but it was stale, and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what was wrong with it. Then today I pulled it back out and stepped aside, allowing the characters to do as they please, and it all came together. Be ready to be surprised; I certainly was! I hope you enjoy The Lonely.
If you’ve never heard of #fridayflash, then stop by our great creator, Jon Strother’s website, Mad Utopia and click on the #fridayflash tab to learn more. The group is growing bigger every week so you’ll find a plethora of material by outstanding artists to choose from. There are also two contests going on right now, for readers and writers, so don’t miss your chance to get in on the action.
Meanwhile, I hope you’re gathering your gear for The Life of a Working Writer Mommy’s birthday party on May 29th. It also just happens to be International Jazz Day, not to mention a holiday weekend, (Memorial Day here in the US), the first anniversary of #fridayflash, and June 1st is National Barefoot Day, so you better believe we’re gonna party!
Also, keep in mind that next Tuesday, May 25th is the Cookie Monster’s birthday! This can only mean one thing – I’ll be baking up several batches of yummy cookies, and posting the recipes here on The Life of a Working Writer Mommy, so mark your calendars.
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and I’ll see you real soon!

I would like some ginger snaps, I thought about making some yesterday, but got busy with other junk.

Oh I love ginger snaps Paige! Especially with Kalhua and hot chocolate. Alas, I’ve never tried to make them so I’ve no recipe, but surely I can find a link to a good one. I will be posting the recipe for my favorite – peanut butter, and probably chocolate drop cookies, (some people call them no-bake), and double chocolate treasures….
I’m getting hungry for cookies now!

I hope you are doing better – falls can really throw our fibro for a loop!
There is certainly a lot to celebrate next weekend, I have been thinking about a party too!
Can’t wait for your cookie recipes – we need some new ones for the summer!
Take care!

Hey Anne, I am doing much better than I was, thank you. Just still a little weak but hopefully I’ll be all better in time to read some flash tomorrow. On a good note, I did finish a pretty big project at work today so am ready to head into the next one, and I have only one UW meeting left today so that will be behind me. I love doing that, (evaluations and allocations committee), but it can really wear a body out as much as you have to study.
I can’t wait for your party – you always throw such great ones, and with superb treats! So we’ll have cookies and….well, whatever you have planned.

Hey, Deanna — really sorry to hear about your flare-up and your bathroom fall. Glad to read in the comments above you are doing much better now.
As I just mentioned over at Paige’s, I now know 4 bloggers with fibro, and my heart goes out to each and every sweet one of you. I wish I could make it go away. I myself get migraines, but thankfully not as often as I used to, I’m down to an average of maybe every 2-3 weeks lately, for about 12-24 hours each. None of this pain is in our heads! It’s real, it hurts, and it sucks.
But… Memorial Day IS coming, Fridayflash is growing, and Cookie Monster is having a birthday soon — great news!!
Peace, and hugs.

Hi Jannie, and thanks so much for stopping in. Yes, thankfully I am feeling better, though it’s bedtime now so I’m a bit tired…. but that’s all right, I’ll just hit the hay soon.
I used to get migraines often, at least twice a week, before I had my hysterectomy. I was surprised, not to mention thrilled, they tapered off dramatically after that. I still have them, but thankfully not more than once every 5 – 6 weeks, and thank God for that. They’re so debilitating!
Here’s hoping you never have another migraine, and, (even if that can’t happen), the cookies next week will do a world of good!

Hey y’all! I just found out yesterday that the Cookie Monster’s birthday is in November, NOT next Tuesday.
BUT, we’re not going to let this stop us from baking up a bunch of cookies and partying till the cows come home with the milk! I will still be posting the recipes for two of my favorite cookies, plus a link to those ginger snaps for Paige, so I hope to see you this coming Tuesday!
